SCCSD school nurses bridge health care and education by:
Assessing and evaluating the health needs of students and school staff
Providing health education and counseling
Developing individual and emergency health care plans
Providing staff training for health services
Following direct specialized health care procedures
Providing first aid
Implementing and monitoring student compliance with state immunization requirements
Providing vision screenings
Serving as a community resource liaison
Processing medical billing
Providing school staff support
School nurses are a specialty branch of professional nursing. Sioux City Community School nursing services are delivered by eight Professional Registered Nurses licensed by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
