A Focused Theme for Hands-On, Minds-On Learning
At the elementary level, the District has thirteen elementary schools. Five of these schools have been developed as specialty schools with a focused theme. Specialty schools are typically more “hands-on, minds-on” and use an approach to learning that is inquiry or performance/project-based. Teachers still use District and Iowa Core standards in all subject areas; however, the specialty school theme is weaved into all learning experiences.
